Basking in the Glow

Topping off a nice carnival weekend was the Glow party. I was glad to see a big turn out considering it was the same night as the festival and I thought that most people would have been tired. Most came out in their white ready to party and I believe they weren't disappointed. Allyuh real lime dis weekend boy!!

CHARLOTTE CARIBBEAN FESTIVAL


The festival this year was a great success. People looked like they were having a good time, enjoying the food, music, crafts and everything else. Congratulations to Lee 2 Productions on their King of the band title for their presentation "Jewels of the Caribbean, ThunderbirdsCLT on their queen of the band and best kiddies band title for their portrayal of "Out of Africa" and most importantly, Band of the year Image Mas Camp "Beauty of the Rainforest", it was very well deserved. Let's come out bigger and better next year Charlotte, and tell ah frien'.

As we near the carnival season I like to take the time to introduce a local steeldrum musician, Minsky Delmonte.



Minsky Delmonte is a festive, energetic solo Steel Drum musician whose repertoire draws from original compositions and a wide variety of musical genres. His friendly and lively on stage chemistry will uplift you, make you tap your feet and bring a smile to your face.

The Beginning

Ok here's the thing, it is my goal to have an online venue where all Caribbean people living in North Carolina and surrounding, have one single site where they can get info on almost everything Caribbean. I'm tired of having to search high and low to find out what's happening in the West Indian community. So in creating this blog I hope to showcase all the happenings, news, restaurants, nightlife etc. Anything Caribbean you should find it here. Hope you enjoy.

DJ Thunder

Adrian Miller also known as DJ Thunder is a native of the Caribbean island of Barbados. "I fell in love with music from birth and my passion for music will still go on until the day the torch is passed. At the tender age of thirteen years old, I began playing music at street fairs in various schools in Barbados. This was my first time playing music outside of the house".

In 1994 he decided to start his own sound and Thunderstorm Movement was established. It represents the power of music and that is how the slogan of "when thunder strides, the storm begins" was developed.

"My legacy when I die, I would like the album on my grave, "Natural Mystic" by the one and only Bob Marley".
